How to Raise a Child Who Doesn’t Contract Affluenza
You all know Darla’s mom (me!) is a social worker in real life who deals with homeless adults, homeless children, pregnant teens, and people with issues such as domestic violence and substance abuse.
When Darla’s oldest sister was little she would come with me to work on Skid Row in Los Angeles. Darla has gone a few times to visit some of my former clients, but it isn’t the same.
Darla really believes that al kids get to go to Disneyland and can afford ice cream and new toys every day. Certainly this is beyond my budget as a single parent working in social work – but she doesn’t know that. Most of her friends don’t understand how lucky they are to have a roof and a bed and regular meals.
So: I am turning to Kickstarter to fund the development of an e-book covering as many neighborhoods and populations (rich and poor) within a weekend’s travel from Los Angeles where we live.
Please consider backing us.

Oh happy day!
Day care reports that Darla is soo much better at self regulation of her emotions.
Oh happy day indeed.
Last Fall we had a big change in home dynamics and just now she is making her peace with it. We always speak nicely of the people who are gone but also emphasize how she and I still make up a happy little family.
I am glad she finally feels safe.
Missing Doc Doll Alert
Darla’s Doc McStuffin’s doll loves the "Up North Family" so much that she ran away and stayed behind. (Who could blame her?!?) She is over a foot tall and should still smell like detergent but some dirt is still showing on the collar of her coat.
If you see her, please tell her that she needs to come home as we love her and miss her very much.
